Sports Massage Level 4
This a a great progression on from Sports Massage Level 3, it will allow you to treat specific sports injuries very effectively. Also when you achieve this level you can then go onto level 5 or stay at this level and introduce other skills - for example taping and strapping.
The main skills the Learner will perform are:
Conducting Complex Assessment for Sports Massage – to include, understanding and undertaking assessment of sports specific posture and gait, conducting complex assessment methods for Sports Massage and devising Sports Massage treatment plans from the information gathered.
Providing Complex Massage Techniques for Sports Massage – to include applying complex massage techniques and providing aftercare methods to complement the complex massage techniques.
You will also learn about evidence-based practice and how to evaluate research undertaken on Sports Massage which is essential in order to work and be successful in the industry.
The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the Sports Massage treatments listed above effectively, in particular the requisite understanding and complex skills and techniques to work as an advanced Sports Massage Therapist to include detailed bio-mechanical assessments, testing and analysing the integrity of the muscular and neurological systems and complex treatment strategies based on sound clinical reasoning.
Units are 456 Conducting Subjective and Objective Assessment. This unit requires you to conduct a minimum of 5 Consultations/Assessments with evidence of treatment.
Unit 457 Treatment Modalities to Support Soft Tissue Repair. This is a assignment to be completed by the student by home study and taught content.
Unit 458 Provide Sports Massage Techniques to Prevent and Manage Injury. This is both evidence and practical unit.
Practical examination is 1 hr.
