Anatomy & Physiology qualification, you will need to undertake an Anatomy
& Physiology alongside this course with an additional 50 hours (total 125
hours). You will also need to complete and pass units 22.1/2 if not
already done)
Reflexology is an
ancient therapy that preceded acupuncture. It is applied by using a specific
pressure technique to the feet or hands where the internal body structures and
organs are mapped or mirrored in miniature. It is simple non-invasive
treatment, which helps the body to maintain a delicate balance between the
body's main systems.
This course includes:
The history of Reflexology
The concept and mechanisms of the therapy
Its use for health balancing and maintenance.
The detailed location of the reflex zones and their relation to organs and
their functions.
Hand Reflexology
Foot Reflexology
Hygiene and sterilisation
Investigative models .
The contra-indications of Reflexology.
Common foot disorders. Detailed anatomy & physiology of the foot and
leg
Practitioner skills - client record programmes,
professionalism and client care.
Students Receive:
Explanatory handouts and charts.
Students are required
to compile case studies – 10 people with a minimum of 4 treatments. Students are required
to compile case studies – 10 clients to be treated a minimum of four times each which may total between 120 – 200 hours to
complete the full portfolio. (This is additional to the taught hours
and will be conducted away from the college during your own time) Case studies will need to be handed in by the end of the course.
Additional course work 50 hours (some in class some student centred) to cover
professional conduct and business awareness. Sessions start at 8.30 and finish at
4.00 p.m. Students will be required to bring their own couches for this course.
To include the A & P will be an additional sessions (15) on Tuesday pm
12.30 to 3.30 pm
One additional day is required for ITEC
exams which consists of a one hour multiple choice theory paper and 1 hour
practical. If including A & P a 1 hour multiple choice theory paper + (If
unit 22.1 & 2 is included additional 1 hour multiple choice theory paper)
Pre -Entry Requirement:
Students must be 16 years at the time of the examination, 5 GCSE’s or
equivalent.
