The Aromatherapy course is a modular extension of
the Holistic Massage course. This course can however be studied in combination
with the Massage course and you should contact us for further information if
you wish to take the combination option.
The course covers:
Therapeutic uses of over 40 essential oils.
Countries of origin, and methods of extraction.
Chemical constituents, dosage, safety and the dangers of overdose.
Carrier oils, blending methods, frequency and duration of an Aromatherapy
treatment.
Care and storage of oils.
How to purchase essential oils.
The limbic system, its connection with memory and oils.
Delivery methods, burners, inhalation, massage.
Contra-indications of Aromatherapy, case histories and record keeping.
Other types of Natural Therapies.
The history and evolution of Aromatherapy.
Practical sessions cover:
Full body massage,
including facial massage incorporating
Facial cleansing, toning and moisturising using a variety of essential oil
blends.
Pressure points for lymphatic drainage.
Blending and choice of oils for a variety of common health problems.
Students Receive
Explanatory handouts
and charts. Students are required
to compile case studies 10 clients to be treated four times each which may total between 120 – 200 hours to
complete the full portfolio. (This is additional to the taught hours
and will be conducted away from the college during your own time) Case studies will need to be handed in by the end of the course. The course day is usually a
Tuesday Sessions start at
8.30 and finish at 4.00 p.m. One additional day is required for the ITEC exams which consists of a two hour multiple
choice question paper and 1 hour practical.
Students can
undertake to qualify in both Holistic Massage alongside Aromatherapy. Ask

Students will be required to bring their own couches for this course.
Pre -Entry Requirement: Students must be 16 years at the time of the
examination, I.T.E.C. Holistic Massage Diploma including Units 22.1/2
or an ITEC approved equivalent. All students should hold a current
First Aid Certificate
